🚨TopStep Plans 'Back2Funded' to Let Traders Reinstate Blown Accounts

TopStep’s upcoming Back2Funded feature may let traders restart blown funded accounts without repeating the challenge.

TopStep appears to be preparing a new feature called Back2Funded, which looks set to offer traders a way to reinstate a previously blown funded account - for a fee.

Michael Patak, the CEO of TopStep, revealed the upcoming move on X on Saturday. It came in response to a user wishing that TopStep had a “Straight to Funded” (S2F) option. While Back2Funded isn’t quite that, it could be the next best thing for traders who've already made it through the initial stages.

The idea seems to be this, if you've passed the Combine and earned a funded account but end up blowing it, you won’t necessarily have to go all the way back to square one. Instead, Back2Funded could allow you to skip the challenge phase and re-enter at the funded level, again, likely for a price.

It’s a move that acknowledges the brutal reality of prop trading. The failure rate is extremely high, with around 92% of traders never making it to the payout stage. Even those who reach a funded account often blow it before seeing a single withdrawal. Right now, those traders have no choice but to start from scratch, pay for a new Combine, and hope the next run goes differently.

This is where Back2Funded could change things.

The question now is at what cost? If the reinstatement fee is too steep, it may end up being poor value compared to simply starting over with a new Combine. For example, if you’ve already paid for a Combine, passed, then paid a restart fee after blowing your funded account, only to blow it again, you may have spent more than you would have by going the long way round.

No official launch date or pricing has been confirmed. If it’s cheap, traders will queue up. If not, many might just roll the dice on a fresh Combine instead. Either way, it shows TopStep knows exactly where most of its money is made - after traders hit the wall.
